This Year’s News:

November 2, 2009: The Secret Project revealed! The opening to “In Maps and Legends” is now live at the Zuda Comics site, as part of their November competition. Go read and vote!

October 31, 2009: Happy Halloween. Final touches on my YA fantasy novel A Sudden Outbreak of Magic are done! Going out to publishers on Monday. Boo!

October 27, 2009: Just now recovering from the intense Master Class, which was awesome, and have three new stories to put out in the mail. Got a dozen stories out there now.

October 3-18, 2009: I’ll be spending these two-plus weeks at the Oregon Coast, studying with over a dozen other writers and editors, pushing myself hard as a writer at the Master Class. See ya on the 19th!

September 15, 2009: My short story collection Gunning for the Buddha is now available in a super-cheap Kindle edition — only $4.99!

September 10, 2009: Just for kicks (and maybe for a couple bucks here and there), I set up an online “store” to help folks find my fiction (paper and digital) for cheap. Buy early, buy often!

September 8, 2009: Finished up (and sent out) my second brand-new story for the year. I’m on a roll! This one’s called “Finder.”

August 25, 2009: Finalized the opening pages of the Secret Project with collaborator Niki Smith, and it’s now officially entered in the Competition-to-be-Named-Later.

August 24, 2009: Sent off A Sudden Outbreak of Magic, plus an updated synopsis and a snappy cover letter, to my agent. The novel is done. On to the next project(s)!

July 26, 2009: Finished up my first brand-new (well, almost brand-new, since I used characters from my first novel) story, “Twenty-ten,” just in time for this contest. Woo!

July 19, 2009: Cowabunga brains! My surfing redneck zombie story is going to be reprinted in The Best of All Flesh, due out in December.

June 13, 2009: I’m reworking A Sudden Outbreak of Magic, my young-adult contemporary fantasy novel set in Dubuque, Iowa, once more, and it’s gonna be a good one when I’m done!

May 12, 2009: My story “Natural Order” was reprinted in the latest Relief Anthology: The Fleas They Carried, and the book is now available. Spend $12 and help save some innocent pups in the process!

April 30, 2009: I’m furiously finishing up my novel outline so I can finish a re-draft of the last 50,000 words of The All Nations Team for the nifty, new MayNoWriMo! Whoo!

April 17, 2009: John Teehan at Forces of Geek looks at A Gathering of Doorways and comes up with the most comprehensive review I’ve seen — he really got the book (even the bits I sort of messed up!).

March 26, 2009: I finally finished revising the heck out of chapter one of The World’s All Nations. Let the mad flurry of revising truly get underway!

February 26, 2009: My story “Natural Order” will be reprinted in the second Relief Anthology (this one goes to help support dog rescues in Seattle — an awesome cause).

February 19, 2009: I’m starting work on the rewrite of my fantasy/historical/baseball novel The World’s All Nations, which means I’m doing lots of staring off into space and scribbling down ideas.

February 3, 2009: At last, you can buy my “rural fantasy” novel A Gathering of Doorways at Amazon.com and other fine bookstores today. Sweeeet.

January 25, 2009: I finished up all the revisions to my YA fantasy A Sudden Outbreak of Magic, and sent off the manuscript, plus synopses for all three books in the trilogy, to my agent. Whew!

January 15, 2009: A Gathering of Doorways is at the printers, at last! Which means I have a cover, at last, and more importantly, the book will finally be released (only four months late).
